Bengalis are those whose mother tongue is Bengali. Bengalis are not limited to any geographical boundaries but are present all across the globe. On the other hand, Bangladeshis are those who are citizens of Bangladesh.
Most of Bangladeshis are Bengalis but not all Bengalis are Bangladeshis. The major concentration of the Bengali population is found in Bangladesh along with the states of West Bengal and Tripura in India. In India, after Hindi, Bengali is the most spoken regional language.
In short, someone born in Bangladesh is a Bangladeshi and someone who speaks Bengali as their mother tongue is a Bengali. Bengalis in India and Bengalis in Bangladesh have quite a few differences. Although both speak Bengali, the dialects and accents are very different. Bengalis in India are mostly Hindus while Bengalis in Bangladesh are mostly Muslims. But food-wise, both are very similar.
