Morocco Declared Haryana Film Festival

New Delhi/ Morocco has been officially announced as the Partner Country for the 8th edition of the Haryana International Film Festival (HIFF 2026). The international film festival will be held during March–April 2026, with a special focus on Moroccan cinema and Indo–Moroccan cultural exchange.
This prestigious festival will be organized in collaboration with Sanjhi Sanskriti Foundation, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and the ROQEY Foundation for Art, Culture and Peace, Morocco. In this regard, a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between India and Morocco to strengthen cultural cooperation through cinema.
Under the MoU, ROQEY Foundation, Morocco will be represented by Mr. Badr Berrada, President, and Ms. Khadija Elmarbough, who will curate and coordinate the Moroccan Cinema Programme for HIFF 2026. The programme will include screenings of Moroccan films, participation of filmmakers and artists, panel discussions, masterclasses, and cultural presentations.
On the Indian side, the responsibility for organizing the festival, providing the platform, and ensuring academic and cultural coordination will be undertaken by Sanjhi Sanskriti Foundation, with the support of its parent organization, Sanskriti Society for Art and Cultural Development, in collaboration with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
Sharing the details, Mr. Dharmender Dangi, Director of Sanjhi Sanskriti Foundation and Sanskriti Society for Art and Cultural Development, stated that declaring Morocco as the Partner Country marks a historic and significant international initiative for HIFF. He emphasized that cinema serves as a powerful medium to strengthen cultural diplomacy, creative dialogue, and long-term collaboration between India and Morocco.
The MoU also reflects a shared vision to explore the possibility of organizing an Indo–Moroccan International Film Festival in Morocco in the future, which would further enhance cooperation in filmmaking, co-productions, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
It is noteworthy that the Haryana International Film Festival is organized with the support of various government departments, including the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, the Department of Information, Public Relations, Languages & Culture, Government of Haryana, and other relevant government bodies. HIFF has successfully completed seven editions and has established a strong national and international reputation.
HIFF 2026 is expected to witness participation from filmmakers, artists, academicians, and cultural representatives from India, Morocco, and several other countries, further strengthening Haryana’s presence on the global cultural platform.
